Beckford

Post by dh1985 on Sat Jan 09, 2010 10:28 am

No, I don't want Bolton to bid for him as I think he is massively overrated, although it has been a long time since we saw a player in a Bolton shirt demonstrate the type of pace which left Brown for dead against United.

Anyway, moving on, I read last season I think that if Liverpool won the league, Robbie Keane would get a winner's medal despite moving to Spurs in January as he had played the necessary amount of league games prior to his departure to qulaify. I seem to recall that Andy Cole would have also got a medal if United had won the 2001/2002 Premier League as he too had played the necessary amount of games before moving to Blackburn. In either case, it never came up as neither team won the league so their appearances counted for nothing.

However, withBeckford, he has obviously played enough games for Leeds to qualify for a winner's medal if they maintan their good form and win League 1. Therefore, if Beckford gets his request and moves away, will he get a League 1 winners medal?

Secondly, if he moves to Newcastle who are reportedly interested and plays enough games there, will he get a second winners medal if they win the Championship and therefore win two different leagues in one season?

Maybe a question for Martin Tyler that. Any ideas?

I suppose that if he makes the required number of games, then he is entitled to the medals and so should get them.

After scoring against United, his sights may now be higher than Newcastle.
